Early Learning Association Australia appoints new CEO

Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA), which represents 1200 early childhood education and care providers, has appointed Shane Lucas as its new CEO.

Lucas has been a board member of both ELAA and Kindergarten Parents Victoria (as ELAA was formerly known), and sat on the finance, governance and executive committees. He was previously the global head for sustainable development at ANZ Banking Group, a national industrial officer at the Finance Sector Union of Australia, and chief of staff to the Victorian Minister for Industrial Relations. His expertise includes social policy and industrial relations.

Lucas is also a current fellow of Leadership Victoria, and was an inaugural member of the Victorian government’s executive leadership program in 2009.

ELAA’s board believes that Lucas’s experience in leadership and his understanding of membership-based organisations and early learning policies makes him well placed to represent ELAA members, increase membership push early learning policy at a national level. He takes up his new position on July 29, 2013.
