Red Nose Day is coming up on Friday 30 June 2017 and to mark the occasion the organisers have joined forces with Australian Radio Network to debut the Little Rockers Red Nose Disco initiative.
Red Nose raises money to fund research into sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Red Nose states that 3,200 Australian families experience the death of a child by SIDS every year.
The Australian Radio Network comprises the KIIS, Pure Gold and The Edge radio handles, and an on-air talent stable bursting with the likes of Kyle & Jackie O, Hughesy & Kate, Jonesy & Amanda, Jo & Lehmo, Yumi Stynes & Bec Judd, Terry & Bob and Carmen & Fitzi.
Little Rockers Red Nose Disco is presented by iHeartRadio and will run 1-30 June 2017.
“Childcare centres across Australia can purchase an entry pack online and then use this station to host their own fundraising disco event,” the organisers wrote in an email to Early Learning Review. “Including disco event props and decorations such as posters, bunting, bubble blowers, plush toys and activity sheets, these packs are sure to create a focal point amongst little disco guests across the country.”
The packs cost $25 and are available from Red Nose Day’s website.
“Your pack gets you access to the event and also includes games, decorations, festival style wristbands, toys and much more,” continued the organisers. “With the purchase of every disco pack, your centre will be provided with supporting materials for you to share with your networks.
“Children are encouraged to bring along a gold coin donation to participate and you will be provided with a donation box to collect funds.”
The pack contains an activity sheet, Disco Move Dance Spinner, 30 festival wristbands, bunting, donation box, event poster, bubble blowers and plush toys.
The concept is the brainchild of Little Rockers Radio founder Sarah Morrissey. She extrapolates:
“After losing my precious nephew to SIDS at 16 months of age, I experienced firsthand the amazing support Red Nose offer for bereaved families, and became aware of their work in research and education,” Morrissey emoted. “Working on these discos has been a highly personal decision for me, and I’m proud to help raise critical funds for Red Nose while garnering great national media exposure for their work via Little Rockers and all our partners.”
