Kentish Lifelong Learning and Care is the first family day-care service in the Northern Territory to win an excellent rating – the highest available – under the National Quality Framework.
Carla Northam, chief executive of Family Day Care Australia, said the rating recognises Kentish’s steadfast commitment to quality.
“It is an incredible achievement for Kentish Lifelong Learning and Care to have earned a place among the most outstanding early childhood education and care services in the country,” Northam said in a statement. “Their innovative approaches and initiatives set them apart and ensure they are leaders in the Northern Territory’s early childhood education and care sector as a whole.”
Kentish has been recognised as demonstrating excellence in collaboration with professional, community and research organisations, inclusive partnerships with children and families, practice and environments that enhance children’s learning and growth and sustained commitment to professional development and support of educators. The family day-care service offers a range of opportunities for children’s learning and growth
Kentish director Sarah Fowler explained that its service provides families with high-quality childcare in a secure and nurturing home environment with a ratio of one educator for every four children. Fowler said it was important in a home setting to prioritise open and inclusive relationships between children and parents. “It’s important to have that partnership because you’re all working together for the child, you’re on the same page and it keeps things more consistent throughout the child’s learning,” she said.
Fowler expressed her excitement over the award. “We are beyond pleased and it’s great to see our hard work is paying off,” she said. “At the end of the day, it’s really the children who are the real winner – and the parents because they know they are getting the very best care for their children.”Do you have an idea for a story?
