Networking and professional development was the focus of the Australian Nanny Conference over the weekend.
The first of its kind in Australia, the conference had a wide range of speakers and programs , with seminars presented by various childcare and nannying experts, including child psychologist Dr Louise Porter and parenting expert and best-selling author Pinky McKay. Hope Skinner, founder of the Australian Nanny Conference, said it was a resounding success and great opportunity for networking throughout the nanny industry.
“We’ve seen with the growth of social media that nannies have come together,” Skinner said. “There is still to some extent this isolation barrier that nannies face. So we are looking to [build] the aspect of community involvement and we are seeing that through things like this conference.”
Skinner also said the feedback from this year’s conference was extremely positive and she is looking forward to planning next year’s event.
