The Federal Government has launched a new initiative that will give additional support for childcare.
The Better Schools: Before and After program will provide funding for up to 500 schools so that more flexible opening hours can be offered, including care services before and after school, and during holidays. The new initiative will also offer more places in regions where parents need access to out-of-school-hours care, as well as new activities and programs for children such as music lessons, sporting activities and homework clubs.
The initiative is designed to help parents who have a hard time travelling during the rush hour drop-off and pick-up times for their children.
The program aspires to help parents strike a balance between their work schedule and their family. There is also the security and confidence for parents in knowing that educational programs are being provided to their children outside school hours.
The Better Schools: Before and After plan will start in the 2014 school year.
