Every child, and the sector, is a star when National Family Day Care Week kicks off on May 1.
Themed ‘Every Child is a Star’ and hosted by peak body Family Day Care Australia, next week’s festivities aim to show-off how the sector’s star qualities nurture the star qualities of the enrolled. The free kids’ entertainment on offer includes jumping castles, face painting, DJs, and food and drink to purchase during the week.
Andrew Paterson, FDCA chief executive, said while the week is also a lot of fun, it contains the serious message of advocating for quality day care.
“National Family Day Care Week will provide an opportunity for services, educators and families to come together and celebrate the important role family day care plays not only in their community, but in shaping and supporting the lives, hopes and dreams of hundreds of thousands of children around the country,” Paterson said. “This unique nationwide event will recognise family day care’s quality, nurturing early childhood setting and how it encourages, develops and celebrates a child’s own individual star qualities.”
