Google Glass and Xplor have changed the way administration work is done in the Woodland Education childcare centre.
Mark Woodland, owner of Woodland Education, uses Google Glass and Xplor to make things easier for educators and administrators in his early learning centre.
Google Glass plans to execute remote tours of the centre so parents are able to see what’s happening live. Woodland also uses an app through Google Glass to help translate for children who speak in a different language. The technology interprets the language into English and this has resulted in better communication between educator and child.
Xplor is childcare management software. Downloadable on a mobile device, it allows parents to view live broadcasts of what their child is learning throughout the day, via photos and videos. This helps parents stay connected with their children remotely.
“The goal of Xplor was to develop some technology to make education much easier and a bit more collaborative between teachers and parents, and between parents and children” Woodland said. “No longer were they waiting to get a book at the end of the day to find out what the child had learnt, they’re getting this information as it happens throughout the day live.”
Woodland explained that Xplor had solved administration problems in the workplace.
“We started finding that teachers were happier, educators were happy and we were able to cut costs in administration,” he said. “It automates the entire administration process. It connects parents and gets everyone back to the focus of the child.”Do you have an idea for a story?
